Opponents of the divine legitimacy of the Imamate and religious leadership, along with other arguments, have cited some Qur'anic arguments, which can be analyzed and examined in three main reasons with different explanations; Imamate as one of the public rights (haqqunnaas) is one of the reasons for this view, which is documented in the following four Qur'anic themes: judicial and legal speeches to the general public, the standing of the people in justice as a philosophy of mission and prophecy, the separation of divine prophecy from the rule of the people and the mission of the prophets. The second reason for this view is to legitimize the opinion of the people in the Qur'an, which is based on four categories of verses, including verses of consultation and advice (shoora), verses of allegiance, verses documenting the authority of consensus, and verses of obedience to the leaders (ulu’l amr). The third reason for this view is the orthographic difference between the Qur'anic concept of "rule" and its customary political meaning. Analysis and study of these evidences by the method of inference and recitation of the Qur'an would show their incompleteness in proving the claimed results.
