Abstract
The word "Dhan" (uncertainty) is one of the key words in the Holy Quran, which is important from different religious, moral and jurisprudential aspects. One of the wide-ranging issues about this word is the difference in its conceptualization in different Quranic contexts. There are three main views on this. According to the common view, many commentators and researchers have considered the main meaning of Dhan to be uncertainty; but they have interpreted this word as certainty, especially in the ten verses, contrary to the appearance of these verses, because they did not consider the main meaning of Dhan in these verses. This research tries to critically examine the interpretation of Dhan and Yaqin in the verses of the Holy Quran using analytical-descriptive method. Believing in verbal miracles and the wise use of words in the verses of the Holy Qur'an, makes it difficult to accept such an interpretive view on these verses. Based on this, in the first step, it has examined the lexical reports and critically analyzed the evidence and reasons of the linguists. Because the lexical reports have been the basis of interpretive analyzes many times and have shown that the main meaning of Dhan is seen in all the uses of this lexical item. Besides, the poetic evidence presented in proving the concept of knowledge and certainty for the word Dhan can be explained with the very original meaning of it, which is uncertainty. Then, based on this lexical analysis, it has investigated the lexical concept of Dhan and its interpretation in different verses with emphasis on the context of the verses. Finally, it has become clear that the use of Dhan with its original meaning can be defended in all the verses of the Holy Qur'an and is in full accordance with the context of the verses.
